OuiGotU Privacy Policy
Last updated: TODO(confirm): publication date
This policy explains what personal information OuiGotU collects, why, how long we keep it, who processes it for us, and the choices you have. It applies to the OuiGotU apps for iPhone, iPad and Android and to the public seller pages at https://app.ouigotu.com.
OuiGotU is operated by TODO(confirm): legal name of the operating company, TODO(confirm): business address, Canada ("OuiGotU", "we", "us").
1. Who we are and what OuiGotU does
OuiGotU is a marketplace that connects people looking for local services in Canada ("buyers") with people and businesses offering them ("sellers"). Buyers find sellers, send booking requests and chat with them. OuiGotU is not a party to the bookings and does not handle any payment: the buyer pays the seller directly, offline.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account: your email address, a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), your first and last name, your preferred language, and whether you use OuiGotU as a buyer or a seller.
- Profile (optional): a profile photo and a phone number.
- Sellers: business name, business phone, business address, time zone, a description, your services (titles, descriptions, photos, prices, durations, opening hours) and, for regulated trades, a licence or registration number. Sellers choose whether buyers see their exact address or only the area.
- Bookings: the service, date and time, price, the address for services done at your place, and any note you write to the seller; the booking's history (requested, confirmed, rescheduled, cancelled, completed). Cancellations are recorded only to show a 24-hour cancellation rate (cancellations less than 24 hours before the start) to the people you book with; no money is involved.
- Messages and quotes: the chat messages you exchange with other users and the quotes sellers send in the chat.
- Reviews, reports and blocks: reviews you write, reports you submit (with the reason and details you give) and the users you block.
- Saved items: favourite services and saved addresses.
- Invoices: when a seller sends an invoice, it contains the seller's name or business name, phone, address, licence or registration number, the buyer's name and email address, and the amount both parties agreed to offline.
Information collected when you use the app
- Approximate location from your postal code: to show services near you, you type a postal code. The app keeps only its first three characters (the "FSA", e.g. H2T) on your device and sends it with your search; our servers use it to compute distances and do not store it. The app does not read your device's GPS location.
- Sign in with Apple or Google: if you use them, we receive an account identifier, your email address (with Apple, possibly a private relay address) and your name, as you allow.
- Technical data: like any online service, our hosting providers process your IP address and basic request information to deliver the service and protect it from abuse.
TODO(confirm): retention of hosting logs (Supabase / Cloudflare plan settings).
We do not use analytics, advertising or crash-reporting tools, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or rent your personal information.
3. Why we use it
- To create and secure your account and let you sign in.
- To run the marketplace: show listings and seller pages, handle booking requests, quotes, rescheduling and cancellations, and let buyers and sellers chat.
- To send you service messages by email (for example a new booking request, a confirmation, a reminder, an invoice, or a notice that your password changed) and in-app notifications. We do not send marketing emails in this version.
- To keep the community safe: review reports, enforce our Terms, and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To meet our legal obligations and answer requests from you or from authorities.
We rely on your consent (which you give when you create an account and can withdraw by deleting it), on what is necessary to provide the service you ask for, and on our legal obligations.
4. What other users see
- Sellers' public information (business name, description, services, photos, prices, area or exact address if the seller chose it, reviews) is public in the app and on the seller's page at https://app.ouigotu.com/pro/….
- In a booking or a chat, the other person sees your name and photo, the messages you send, and the booking details needed to provide the service (for example the address of a service done at your place, and the seller's contact details).
- Reviews show the reviewer's display name next to the review.
5. Service providers we use
We share personal information only with providers that process it on our behalf to run OuiGotU, under contracts that require them to protect it:
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, file storage and server functions | Canada (Montréal region, ca-central-1) |
| Resend | Sending service emails | United States TODO(confirm) |
| Apple (Sign in with Apple) | Sign-in, and revoking Apple sign-in when you delete your account | Apple |
| Google (Google Sign-In) | Sign-in | |
| Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages) | Hosting the public seller pages at app.ouigotu.com | Global network |
When you tap "Open in Maps", the address is handed to the maps app on your phone (Apple Maps or Google Maps), which applies its own privacy policy.
Some providers may process information outside Québec and Canada (for example in the United States). Before such transfers we assess whether the information will be adequately protected, as required by Québec law. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of users and the public.
6. How long we keep it
- We keep your account information while your account exists.
- When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photo, uploaded files, favourites, saved addresses and blocked list right away. Some information stays because it also belongs to the other person (see section 7).
TODO(confirm): retention of database backups (e.g. "Backups are kept for up to 7 days and then overwritten").TODO(confirm): retention of reports and of the email sending log after the account is deleted.- We keep information longer only when the law requires it.
7. Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app: My profile → Delete account.
- Deletion is refused while you have a booking that is still open (requested, upcoming or in progress); the app tells you which bookings to finish or cancel first.
- What is deleted: your profile, photo and contact details, uploaded files (including files you sent in chats), favourites, saved addresses, blocked list, and your sign-in. If you are a seller, your services are removed from the marketplace and their photos, descriptions and licence numbers are erased.
- What stays, anonymized: the other person keeps their copy of the bookings, invoices, chats and reviews you shared. On their side you appear as "Deleted user", without your photo or contact details; your reviews stay but are shown as anonymous; the email address on invoices you received is removed; a removed service keeps only its title, category and duration in the other person's history.
- Accounts created with Sign in with Apple can only be deleted from the app on an iPhone or iPad, because we ask Apple to confirm and then revoke OuiGotU's access to your Apple ID. On Android, the app shows how to do this.
- If you no longer have the app, write to support@ouigotu.com from your account's email address.
TODO(confirm): manual deletion process and delay (Google Play requires a web deletion path). - You can create a new account with the same email address afterwards; it is not linked to the old data.
8. Your rights (including under Québec's Law 25)
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to receive a copy in a structured, commonly used technological format, to withdraw your consent, or to have it deleted or de-indexed. You can correct most of it yourself in the app (My profile) and delete your account at any time.
To make a request, write to our person in charge of the protection of personal information (see section 12). We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (www.cai.gouv.qc.ca) or, outside Québec, to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (www.priv.gc.ca).
If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify the people affected and the competent authorities, as the law requires.
9. Age
OuiGotU is for people 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Content you post, reporting and blocking
Your listings, reviews and messages are visible to the people they are meant for (see section 4). You can report a user, a listing, a review or a message, and block a user from the chat. We use reports to enforce our Terms of Service; the person you report is not told who reported them.
11. What OuiGotU does not do in this version
- No payments, deposits, escrow or fees: the price is settled offline between buyer and seller.
- No subscriptions or in-app purchases.
- No AI messaging on your behalf and no AI voice assistant.
If we add any of these, we will update this policy before they are available and tell you in the app.
12. Contact — person in charge of the protection of personal information
TODO(confirm): name or title of the person in charge — support@ouigotu.com TODO(confirm): postal address
13. Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version at https://ouigotu.com/privacy with its date, and tell you in the app or by email before important changes take effect.
